Air Force Enlisted Village

Air Force Enlisted Village is a non-profit retirement community in Shalimar, Florida, on the Emerald Coast. It offers independent living, assisted living and memory support for veterans and their surviving spouses.

The village was founded to give a safe and secure home to surviving spouses of retired enlisted US Airmen. Today it serves all veterans and their surviving spouses. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The aim is to give residents the same sense of mission and camaraderie they knew in military service.

Independent living is offered at Bob Hope Village, an active community for adults aged 55 and over. A second independent living option is called Village 7. Residents can join events, activities and a wellness programme, and the campus has dining and other amenities.

Assisted living and memory support are offered at Hawthorn House. Staff provide round-the-clock care in a homelike setting. The assisted living facility is licensed in the state of Florida.

The community sits close to Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field. A Veterans Affairs outpatient care facility is also nearby. Residents often hear bugle calls from the bases, which adds to the military feel of the area.

The village also runs fundraising events and giving programmes. These include a charity golf classic, a memorial 9K run and a link with the Air Force Assistance Fund. People can also volunteer, support the village through planned giving or join the staff through its careers page. Families can arrange a tour to see the campus.
