Agilica
UWB positioning for GPS-denied drone navigation and landing on moving ships
About Agilica
Agilica is a Belgian company that provides a GPS-independent onboard positioning system for drones and robots using ultra-wideband (UWB) technology, enabling precise autonomous navigation, position hold, loitering and landing in GPS-denied environments, indoors and on moving targets such as ships. It began in 2018 as a research and development initiative at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels and has evolved into a company focused on high-accuracy positioning and navigation for drone and robotic applications, with its operational address at Rue Hobbema 8 in Brussels.
Agilica Geolocalisation system (AGL)
- A patented local positioning system for mission-critical drone operations where GPS is shaded, jammed or spoofed, with accuracy down to centimetres in real time and a high-precision mode to 10 cm
- UWB positioning that the company says outperforms visual and other technologies, remaining robust to RF interference, multipath issues and changing light or weather
- Simultaneous navigation and tracking of multiple drones and mobile assets, with a local relative coordinate system for landing on moving vehicles or vessels
- Flexible deployment over large or small areas, indoors or outdoors, from drone ports to maritime vessels, with positioning inside and beyond the infrastructure footprint, auto-calibration and remote monitoring
- Short-range and long-range options, swappable batteries and a resilient virtual tether for persistent surveillance and ISR
Applications
- Autonomous take-off and landing on moving ships for offshore and maritime operations
- Indoor flight testing, where the AGL system acts like an indoor GPS
- Scalable multi-asset autonomy for unmanned systems in edge environments
