Advanced Air

Advanced Air is a regional airline in the Southwestern United States. It runs direct commercial flights to a range of destinations, many of them seasonal. Its aim is to open up regional airports that most big airlines do not serve.

Its routes reach California, Arizona and New Mexico. Airports include Mammoth Lakes, Hawthorne near Los Angeles, Carlsbad, Oakland, Crescent City, Phoenix, Albuquerque, Silver City, Gallup, Angel Fire and Imperial near El Centro.

In summer, flights run direct from Hawthorne and Carlsbad to Mammoth Lakes. The airline describes these as semi-private flights. It also flies from Mammoth to Los Angeles and San Diego. Flights to Merced give travelers an easy way into Yosemite National Park. Flights from Los Angeles or Oakland reach Crescent City, the gateway to the redwood parks.

The fleet has three aircraft types, chosen for short runways and high strips. The Pilatus PC-12 is Swiss-built and carries six to eight passengers, with a range of 1,500 nautical miles. The Dornier 328JET carries 30 passengers in a stand-up cabin with a flight attendant. The King Air 350 carries nine passengers and has a range of 2,078 miles.

Passengers can book, manage and check in online, view flight schedules and buy ticket packages. The airline also runs an Altitude membership and prints Altitude Magazine for its flights and airports.

Advanced Air also offers private flights through its charter service, Advanced Air Charters. The airline has appeared in the press, including coverage of its Super Bowl weekend flights into a small California airport near Los Angeles.
