ACT Chargers

About ACT Chargers

Advanced Charging Technologies (ACT) is a US manufacturer of battery chargers and fleet energy management systems for electric material handling equipment and electric ground support equipment (eGSE). Established in 2009 and headquartered at 17260 Newhope Street in Fountain Valley, California, it has an engineering centre in Oviedo, Florida, and in March 2021 opened a second manufacturing facility in San Antonio, Texas, to accommodate increased demand. The company describes its mission as shaping a future in which clean energy and efficient power solutions drive change, and in September 2023 it completed a rebrand. Its chargers work with lead acid and lithium-ion batteries and require no infrastructure modifications.

Products

  • Quantum chargers (Quantum 2 and Quantum 3) for indoor forklift fleets, with Wi-Fi connectivity and a user interface for power management
  • Quantum Outdoor and Quantum GSE chargers: NEMA 3R outdoor rated, UL listed, multi-voltage and multi-AH units with more than 94 percent peak charge efficiency and 93.5 percent total cycle efficiency, built with redundancy and a modular design for electric ground support equipment at airports, with remote management, real-time analytics, issue alerts and remote updates
  • Air Quantum wireless charger, which starts charging when a lift truck is in range across a 3 to 10 inch air gap with up to 6 inches of misalignment, delivering 19.2 kW and 400 A at up to 91 percent efficiency, with a vision sensor providing live and foreign object detection
  • Battview battery monitoring, ACTview patented cloud-based fleet management platform, ACTintelligent, ACTenergy, ACTfirst and PolarLink

Ground support equipment

In an article on the site titled Green Growth, ACT describes a line of UL outdoor rated, high efficiency battery chargers developed to charge electric GSE using lead acid and lithium-ion batteries. The Quantum GSE chargers include Wi-Fi connectivity so that ground service providers can remotely monitor charging and implement updates, and the company states that GSE powered by alternative energy can benefit ground handlers through lower energy costs and emissions. A case study on the site covers 870 customised chargers supplied for a retail customer's transition to lithium technology.

Certifications

ACT holds ISO 9001 quality management and ISO/IEC 27001 information security certifications, with products carrying UL and cUL safety certification and CE marking, and it has completed a SOC 2 Type I assessment of its security controls.
