Wallwork Heat Treatment
Independent heat treatment, coatings and HIP in the UK
About Wallwork Heat Treatment
Wallwork Heat Treatment, the Wallwork Group, is an independent UK metallurgical processing company that offers heat treatment, coatings and hot isostatic pressing (HIP). It calls itself the largest independent heat treatment and coatings company in the UK and works from several sites, including Manchester, Birmingham and Cambridge. The group serves aerospace as well as biomedical, motorsport and other demanding sectors.
Its portfolio of heat treatment equipment and processes covers vacuum, sealed quench, plasma and gas nitriding, salt bath, vacuum brazing, induction, and salt nitrocarburising, among others. The Manchester site holds a broad range of approvals, including BSI AS/EN 9100, ISO 9001 and 14001, Cyber Essentials and Nadcap for heat treatment and HIP.
Services
- Heat treatment: stress relieving, normalising, salt bath nitrocarburising and a wide range of approved processes for commercial and aerospace customers
- Hot isostatic pressing in Quintus URC units for aluminium, titanium and nickel-chromium castings and for additive manufacturing parts; two advanced presses are now fully operational
- NADCAP-compliant PVD and CVD coatings to extend component life, including commercial PVD coatings and aerospace coatings
- NADCAP-compliant vacuum brazing as an alternative to welding, joining ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, mixed materials and ceramic-to-metal

Research and development
A team of research and development engineers and scientists works on new coatings and surface treatments from conception through to production, often with universities. The group says its work has led to scientific publications and patents, and that it has won grant funding and led collaborative projects with industrial and research partners.
