Tenney Environmental

Tenney Environmental is a manufacturer of environmental test chambers based in New Columbia, Pennsylvania. Together with its sister brand Lunaire, it makes chambers and rooms that simulate temperature, humidity, altitude and vacuum conditions. Both brands belong to Thermal Product Solutions, known as TPS, which also offers refurbished and rental chambers, industrial and laboratory ovens and furnaces.

History

The company was founded by Dwight Tenney, who began by perfecting a line of bakery equipment. When that work reached the US government during World War II, it turned out that test chambers need similar control of temperature uniformity, humidity and pressure. Demand grew after the war, with companies such as IBM, GE, RCA and Xerox using Tenney chambers, and the company moved into aerospace to meet the requirements of testing space environments. Nearly 50 years after the war Tenney joined forces with Lunaire, which made stability and steady state chambers, and Gruenberg, which made industrial ovens, pharmaceutical sterilisers and dryers.

Service

Tenney offers a full range of aftermarket chamber services and parts, carried out by factory trained technicians. Chambers are available in a variety of configurations and footprints, and the design team works with customers on selection. Employees are spread across three US locations.
