About Straube's Aircraft Services

Straube's Aircraft Services is a family owned and operated aircraft painting, refinishing and detailing company. It started in 1985 on the island of Maui, Hawaii. The company now works from several locations and says it has grown into a full service supplier. Its corporate headquarters is in Kingman, Arizona.

Straube's paints and refinishes general aviation aircraft, helicopters and ground service equipment. Painting services include dry stripping, environmentally safe chemical stripping, metal and composite preparation, body work and corrosion repair, custom graphics and layouts, VIP paint finishes, and bright work and polishing. Extras include door jambs, camlocs, abrasion boots and corrosion control.

Detailing is also offered. Exterior services include dry wash and wax, quick detail, departure clean, wet wash and bright work on wing edges. Interior services include interior detail with disinfecting, carpet extraction, spot removal and a COVID treatment that wipes down all surfaces and fogs the cabin. Detail services are offered at the Hawaii location.

The Kingman location opened in 1994. The company says it has provided paint and refinishing work to customers including Red Bull, Air Methods, Grand Canyon Airlines, Temsco, the US Forest Service and The Spaceship Company. The company says its employees are safety trained and that it is fully insured.

In 2004 the company was awarded a GSA Schedule contract to paint and refurbish aircraft and aircraft related equipment for the federal government. Its mobile crew has worked on damaged aircraft and static displays around the world. Projects include the Saturn V rocket and Lyndon B Johnson's Jet Star.

By 2007 the company was the in-house paint contractor for Leonardo Helicopters at its facility in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This facility specializes in painting newly manufactured helicopters.

Paint work at the Arizona and Hawaii facilities comes with free estimates, quantity discounts and a typical turnaround of four to five weeks. Annuals, window installation, sheet metal work, upholstery, maintenance and avionics work are available through local airport vendors. Customers can upload photos of a planned paint scheme with their quote request. The company serves both Part 135 and Part 91 aircraft owners.
