About Spacebel
Spacebel is a Belgian space systems and software engineering company established in 1988, with its headquarters in Hoeilaart near Brussels, a second site in Angleur, Liège, and an office in Labège near Toulouse. An independent SME of around 120 people, it joined the European space programmes at its creation and has since contributed to more than 70 space missions, working for space agencies, major aerospace companies, civil and defence governmental bodies, EU and international institutions and commercial customers in Earth observation, space flight, defence, science, telecommunications, navigation, exploration, launchers, balloons and space situational awareness.
Software for space systems
- On-board control and data handling flight software that operates satellites and launchers in space, managing communication with the ground and controlling all equipment on board
- Simulation tools that model satellite equipment and movement in space so faults can be injected and the flight software validated before launch
- Ground software used by operators to monitor and control satellites, write procedures and send them to the spacecraft for execution
- Mission definition and analysis for Earth observation minisatellites and small satellite systems
Earth observation and data
- Spatial and geographic data and metadata management systems
- Geospatial decision support solutions and Earth observation services for forestry, agriculture, hazard management, land, environment and natural resources management
- Design, development, integration and validation of IT space systems and space data access systems, combined with expertise in artificial intelligence for civil and defence space applications
