About Sling Aircraft

Sling Aircraft is a maker of light sport aircraft. The company was founded by pilot and adventurer Mike Blyth, who set out to build the ideal light sport aircraft. Lawyer James Pitman later joined him. The two rebuilt the prototype and tuned it for strong handling and performance. The phone number on the site is a South African number, +27 11 948 9898.

The model range includes the Sling LSA, the Sling 2, the Sling TSi and the Sling HW. The site also welcomes the Sling NGT as a new addition. A compare tool helps visitors weigh the models. The Sling LSA is shown as a flight school trainer. It is based on the Sling 2, which the company says has been used in flight schools for 14 years. Some of those aircraft have flown more than 9,000 hours.

The Sling LSA has an all-metal build and a low wing. It seats two. Quick specs on the site list a useful load of 180 kg, a range of 850 nautical miles, a cruise speed of 120 knots true and a fuel burn of 15 litres an hour. Buyers can pick paint schemes and vinyl designs for the outside.

The site has a distributor finder, a technical support page and an online store for Sling clothing and gear. News items cover an approval by the Brazilian authority ANAC for building the Sling TSi in Brazil, as well as events such as AERO in South Africa, Sun 'n Fun and AirVenture Oshkosh. A live weather and camera feed is also on the site.
