Singapore Aero Engine Services Pte Ltd

Singapore Aero Engine Services Private Limited, known as SAESL, repairs and overhauls aircraft engines and engine components in Singapore. It is a Trent Centre of Excellence for the Rolls-Royce Trent engine family.

The company says it is the largest Trent engine MRO in the world, with customers on six continents. It began operations in 2001. Through its parent companies, it combines the knowledge of Rolls-Royce, the engine maker, with more than 20 years of overhaul experience from Singapore Airlines Engineering Company.

Engine overhaul covers every level of work, from hospital visits and check and repair to full refurbishment. Services include engine disassembly, life-limited part exchange, parts and accessory repair, documentation, modifications, assembly, testing, engineering support and web-based status reports. The shop strips and builds engines with both gantry and traditional methods. The company says it can repair and overhaul more than 300 Trent engines a year.

SAESL services every model in the current Trent family. The Trent 500 powers the Airbus A340-500 and A340-600. The Trent 700 powers the Airbus A330. The Trent 800 powers the Boeing 777-200, 777-200ER and 777-300. The Trent 900 powers the Airbus A380. The Trent 1000 powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, and the Trent XWB powers the Airbus A350 XWB.

The company has its own engine test facility. It can test engines up to 140 inches in diameter and 150,000 pounds of thrust. Test services include full performance tests, vibration surveys, troubleshooting and full inhibition and preparation for shipment.

Component repair supports both the company's own shop and the global market. SAESL says it can repair more than 80 percent of the engine in house. It has five accredited Centres of Excellence. They cover fan blades, compressor blades, nozzle guide vanes, compressor stator vanes and front combustion liners. In 2016 the company joined with International Engine Component Overhaul Pte Ltd, a component repair firm in Singapore.
