Simulator flight training studio in Midtown Manhattan, airline pilot instructors
About Aviator.NYC
Aviator.NYC (formerly SimTech Aviation) is a simulator-based flight training studio at 35 West 31st Street, Suite 901, in Midtown Manhattan, New York. Founded in 2019 by airline pilot Julian Alarcon, it operates a single FAA-approved Advanced Aviation Training Device (AATD) in a private ninth-floor office one block south of Herald Square. The current studio opened on 22 September 2026 and works by appointment only. The company describes itself as a training partner that supplements flight schools: it does not operate aircraft or sell flights.
Training
All instruction is given by active airline pilots; the site lists eight instructors with more than 20,000 combined flight hours across 13 type ratings.
- First simulator lessons and private pilot foundations before a student's first flight at a local airport
- Instrument rating training and instrument currency (approaches, holds and procedures)
- Rusty pilot refreshers, flight review preparation and remote IFR coaching
- Type rating preparation and airline interview preparation in advanced profiles such as the King Air B200
- Youth programs for under-16s and teens, pinch-hitter and fear-of-flying sessions
- Corporate events, group flights and gift certificates
Equipment
The device is a PFC GTX AATD by Precision Flight Controls with Garmin G1000 NXi avionics running the Garmin G1000 PC Trainer software, with a yoke, rudder pedals, throttle quadrant and a single ultrawide curved visual display. More than 20 aircraft configurations are available, from the Cessna 172 to the King Air B200, and aircraft position syncs with ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot on an iPad. The site states that FAA rules allow up to 2.5 hours of AATD time toward the private pilot certificate and up to 20 hours toward the instrument rating. A motion VR simulator is listed as launching in fall 2026.
Cirrus
The site announces a Cirrus simulator with Garmin Perspective Touch+ (G3000) avionics, a RealSimGear SFx console and a GFC 700 autopilot, with SR20, SR22 and SF50 Vision Jet profiles, intended for Cirrus transition training and jet preparation. As of October 2026 the site says the Cirrus SR and SF50 simulators now arrive in 2027, with a waitlist open. No Cirrus device is in operation yet.
Rates
Published on the facility page in October 2026: dual instruction from US$215 per hour, US$180 per hour with a six-hour bundle, and solo practice for licensed pilots at US$95 per hour, with no membership fees. Rates change; confirm with the company.
