Simera Sense

Simera Sense makes optical cameras and payloads for satellites. Its products serve Earth observation and space situational awareness missions. The company says its payloads are flight proven, and it has launched more than 60 payloads that have logged over 1,000,000 hours in space.

The main product family is the xScape range of cameras for small satellites. The xScape50 is a 1U camera for nanosatellites and gives wide coverage with a 30 metre ground sample distance. The xScape100 is a 1.5U camera with a 4.75 metre ground sample distance and a 19.4 kilometre swath. The xScape200 Dual-Use is a 12U camera with a 1.5 metre ground sample distance and a 12.3 kilometre swath. It is built for defence and intelligence uses.

Each range comes in versions. The TriScape cameras capture colour images and video. MultiScape cameras record eight bands of visible and near infrared light. HyperScape cameras record 32 bands. The company also sells imager electronics for optical front ends, with 65 megapixel resolution and a 3.2 micrometre pixel pitch.

Simera Sense also provides image processing tools. Express processing gets a usable image to the ground quickly, which helps during commissioning and early operations of a spacecraft. Advanced processing is a package for calibration and analysis ready data, with an image quality report. It follows ESA's EDAP+ best practice.

For space situational awareness, the company offers payloads such as the xScape100 Scan360. The firm also has cleanroom and test facilities, and it lists mission partners around the world. Its missions cover areas such as defence and intelligence, agriculture and disaster response.
