Schlimgen Logistics

Schlimgen Logistics is a freight and air cargo logistics company based in Troisdorf, near Cologne and Bonn in Germany. For more than 40 years it has handled road and air freight in the Cologne/Bonn region. It has three main business areas: freight forwarding and logistics, air cargo services and fulfilment.

The air cargo service starts with pick-up. The company collects export shipments from the sender and brings them to Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf airports. It also delivers import shipments across North Rhine-Westphalia. Under its RheinRuhr Service, goods go to its warehouse and then on to Frankfurt the same day.

Its transshipment warehouse takes in cargo every day and processes it fast. Staff consolidate freight, label it and pick orders. On request they also build air cargo pallets, known as ULDs. Its own team of aviation security staff checks cargo to EU rules. The company is certified as a regulated agent by the German Federal Aviation Office. It offers all approved screening methods, including dual-view X-ray machines, explosive detectors and explosive detection dogs. The storage area is watched by video cameras.

The company also runs regular line-haul trucking. Each day it moves consolidated cargo from Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf to Frankfurt and back. It also runs a daily service between its own terminals in Cologne/Bonn and Düsseldorf.

Warehouse space covers 12,000 square metres. It holds air, sea and road freight in block storage, pallet racks and small-parts shelves. Staff load and unload sea containers. They also pick, pack and palletise goods for onward transport or sale.

Schlimgen offers dedicated vehicle tours for customers who want their own planned fleet, including dispatch if needed. It keeps its fleet no older than four years. A telematics system helps drivers use fuel wisely and follow driving and rest times. A driver app shares shipment data, so the company can give real-time status. It also lists handling fees and trucking rates, and a subsidiary, 4freight, offers more freight services.
