Rise8
Continuous delivery software for Air Force, Space Force and government missions

About Rise8
Rise8 is a software development company for critical government missions, based at 601 S Harbour Island Boulevard, Suite 109, Tampa, Florida. Its stated purpose is a future where fewer bad things happen because of bad software. Founder Bryon Kroger saw the cost of poor software as a targeteer in the US Air Force, co-founded Kessel Run, the Department of Defense's first software factory, and pioneered the original continuous authority to operate (ATO) before leaving active duty to start Rise8. The company guarantees a first mission outcome in production within 180 days on qualifying engagements, cites delivery up to 25 times faster than traditional methods and reports its fastest greenfield-to-ATO at 57 days.
Capabilities
- Cloud-native application and platform engineering using containerisation, microservices and Kubernetes, with on-premise and cloud infrastructure migration and modernisation
- Artificial intelligence, machine learning and data science built into mission applications
- Security engineered into the software lifecycle through the NIST Risk Management Framework, a Continuous Delivery RMF and authorisation to operate for continuous delivery
- Product and portfolio management, value stream mapping and roadmapping, plus facilitated workshops on systematic problem solving, scoping and discovery, and vision and strategy
- Embedded balanced teams that pair with government staff to build lasting internal capability, with mission fluency from former service members
Customers and results
Rise8 works with US Air Force and Space Force programmes, including mission scheduling software, and with the Department of Veterans Affairs, where it is one of ten awardees on the VA SPRUCE contract and helped deliver benefits faster through continuous delivery, cutting ATO times by 84 percent from 568 to 87 days and security fixes by 75 percent from 143 to 35 days. Partner logos include the Advanced Battle Management System and Wavelength. The company runs the Prodacity conference, the ShipSummit event and Impact Lab training, and publishes the Mission O/S talks and livestream.
