Poly-Fiber
All-vinyl aircraft fabric covering system with manual, workshops and support

About Poly-Fiber
Poly-Fiber is an all-vinyl aircraft fabric-covering system made by Consolidated Aircraft Coatings of Riverside, California, which describes it as the world's best-selling fabric-covering system with more than forty years on the market. Designed for first-time users as well as experienced restorers, the system is presented as the easiest to use, most forgiving and most durable available: it lasts over 25 years in outdoor storage, does not burn, and can be applied in high humidity and varying temperatures. Consolidated Aircraft Coatings is also home to the Ceconite polyester fabric family and Randolph nitrate and butyrate dopes made in America for classic aircraft finishes.
The system
- A complete STC-approved system supplying all the tools and materials needed to cover an aircraft from a single Poly-Fiber distributor, so there is no shopping around
- A 156-page procedure manual with step-by-step instructions, photos, nostalgic cartoons and the full product catalogue, from fabrics to stirring paddles, plus a two-hour EAA SportAir instructional video covering every stage from preparing the airframe to spraying the colours
- Factory technical support on a toll-free number dedicated to technical questions rather than sales
- Hands-on workshops across the US and Canada sponsored by distributors and the EAA SportAir Center, with mini-workshops at major airshows and fly-ins including Oshkosh, Sun 'n Fun, Copperstate, Arlington and the LAA Rally in the UK
- Worldwide availability through a distributor network covering the US, Canada and much of the world, with products listed in all the major aviation supply catalogues
Company
Consolidated Aircraft Coatings states that its only business is making aircraft coatings and that its primary goal is to provide the products needed to cover an aeroplane together with clear, concise instruction to complete the job. Randolph dopes are described as environmentally considerate and exhaustively tested, offering the satin-smooth, deep finish of classic aircraft at lower prices than other manufacturers, while Ceconite offers professional results based on a polyester fabric that has become an industry standard. A Poly-Fiber FAQ page and technical email support complement the manual.
