Fractional aircraft ownership programme, 51 Pilatus PC-12 and 20 PC-24, Portsmouth, New Hampshire

About PlaneSense

PlaneSense, Inc. runs a fractional aircraft ownership programme built around Pilatus aircraft. The programme was launched in 1995 by George Antoniadis, still its founder, president and CEO. The company, called Alpha Flying, Inc. until 2012, is headquartered at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. As of October 2026 the fleet is 51 Pilatus PC-12 turboprops and 20 Pilatus PC-24 jets, which the company says is the largest U.S. fleet of both types. Nearly 700 employees, including more than 300 pilots, run flight operations and maintenance in-house rather than through subcontractors.

Programmes

  • Fractional programme: owners buy a share in an aircraft and get access to the whole fleet. Shares start at 50 flight hours a year on a 5 to 7 year term, with a monthly management fee covering pilots, scheduling and maintenance. The company suggests it for people flying 25 to 300 hours a year.
  • CobaltPass jet card: for 25 hours a year or less, on a 24 month term, with guaranteed availability, no blackout dates and no repositioning fees in the standard billing area. The site currently shows both cards as sold out.
  • Sourcing Solution: the operations centre arranges flights on aircraft outside the PlaneSense fleet, including larger aircraft and destinations beyond the service area.
  • Europe: share owners can use their hours on Jetfly's Pilatus fleet across Europe and parts of North Africa through a collaboration between the two programmes.

Fleet

The PC-12 has been in the programme since 1995, when PlaneSense took delivery of the 20th PC-12 built. The PC-24 joined in February 2018, with PlaneSense as launch customer. Both types can use short runways, which the company says opens up around four times more airports than most other programmes. The average fleet age is 4.5 years. Maintenance is handled by Atlas Aircraft Center, a sister company and FAA Part 145 repair station with hangars in Portsmouth, NH and Boulder City, NV.

Where it flies

The continental United States, Canada, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Caribbean, Central America and Mexico. In 2025 the fleet reached 1,343 airports, flew just under 16 million miles and carried 62,400 passengers.

Safety

PlaneSense holds an ARGUS Platinum Elite rating and is IS-BAO registered. Pilots are company employees, train at FlightSafety International in Dallas and complete annual recurrent training. Atlas Aircraft Center has received the FAA Diamond Award for maintenance training every year since 2002.

Recent news

On 15 October 2026 PlaneSense announced it will fit Gogo Galileo satellite Wi-Fi across all 71 aircraft, starting with new PC-24 deliveries in late October 2026 and finishing fleet-wide by the end of 2027. In 2025 the programme marked 30 years of operation; see our article PlaneSense marks 30 years of fractional aircraft ownership.
