NYCO

NYCO is a French lubricants company headquartered at 66 avenue des Champs Elysées, Paris. It formulates lubricants and develops synthetic ester base stocks for the aviation, defence, industrial and automotive sectors. The group has more than 300 employees and over 300 products, is present in nine countries and makes about 80 percent of its sales as exports to more than 100 countries.

History

NYCO entered aviation lubricants in 1959 with Turbonycoil 13B for the Dassault Mirage fighter, then added lubricants for Eastern type aircraft in 1975 and for US type aircraft in 1979. Turbonycoil 600 was qualified by the US Navy in 1985 and first used by an airline, on A320 aircraft, in 2003. The company opened a plant in Tournai, Belgium in 1997, an R&D centre in the Paris region in 2007 and a plant in Newnan, Georgia in 2025 to supply the American market. Other milestones listed on the site include the Avi-Oil joint venture in India in 1993, the GN148 multi-use grease for civil aviation in 2013 and a strategic partnership agreement with Air France in 2022.

Products

NYCO serves eight markets: aeroderivative gas turbines, automotive, commercial aviation, defence, general aviation, helicopters, industrial applications and transformers. Its product ranges are Hydraunycoil hydraulic fluids, Nycobase ester base stocks, Nycodiel dielectric fluids, Nyco Grease, Nycolube, Nycoperf, Nycoprotec, Nycosol and Turbonycoil turbine oils, plus esters, coolant fluids and environmentally acceptable lubricants.

For general aviation the site lists:

• A dispersive mineral piston engine oil and a non-dispersant SAE 50 mineral piston engine oil
• A synthetic turbine engine oil in use since 1985
• Synthetic greases for propellers, landing gear, wheel bearings and general use
• A mineral hydraulic fluid for air, land and sea applications

Quality and regulatory

NYCO is ISO 9001 certified in France, Belgium, Germany and the USA, ISO 14001 in Belgium and EN 9100 in India. Its regulatory affairs department maintains safety data sheets in CLP and GHS formats in over 30 languages and handles REACH and similar registrations, including listing on the US TSCA, Canada DSL/NDSL and Australia AIIC inventories. The company is a signatory of the Responsible Care charter.
