About Nix Manufacturing

Nix Manufacturing, Inc. is a five-axis machining company in southern Oregon. It makes precision machined parts for customers in aerospace, defense and other industries. The company was established in 1970, according to its site.

The founder, Richard Nix, served in the United States Army. He started a small machining company in southern California. In 1977 he moved the business to rural southwestern Oregon. The company focused on aerospace and defense customers for many years. After the 9/11 attacks the business struggled, and Richard's son Brian helped spread the customer base across more industries. A fourth generation of the family now runs the business.

The shop covers 15,000 square feet, including a climate controlled quality lab. It has 24 CNC machine tools. The site says the machines include Matsuura, Tsugami, Mori Seiki and Haas models, and that the frontline equipment is less than three years old. Inspection tools are calibrated and traceable to NIST.

The site says the shop runs on an ERP system. Customers can see where an order is at any time. The senior team members have more than 15 years of experience in precision manufacturing. All software in the company is kept up to date.

The company lists more than 50 customers, more than six million parts made and more than 40,000 jobs completed. Its five-axis work adds two rotating axes to a cutting tool. The site says this lets one setup make complex parts such as airfoils, turbine blades and engine components. The company works with aluminum, titanium and composites.

Customers can call 541-459-1436 or send a request for a quote through the website. The site also lists careers, a community page and social media links on LinkedIn and Facebook.
