Nighthawk Flight Systems

Nighthawk Flight Systems is a privately held avionics company in Vista, California, in the United States. It makes primary flight displays and cockpit systems for rotary and fixed-wing aircraft. Its markets are general aviation, business aviation, air transport and the military.

The company offers a family of retrofit and forward fit cockpit systems. Its high-performance primary flight displays are FAA certified for all categories of aircraft and helicopters. They are compact and have high resolution, so owners can upgrade without major panel changes. The displays are certified for Part 23, 25, 27 and 29 aircraft and work with existing navigation, communications and other aircraft systems.

Guardian is its next generation primary flight display. It is a large format, high definition system with fully federated, upgradeable avionics. The company has also written about the modular design behind Guardian.

Nighthawk is also known for TAWS and HTAWS terrain awareness and warning displays, such as the ST3400 and ST3400H. These stand-alone systems are easy to install. They offer pilot selectable modes, which allow off airport operations, and they give alerts for both obstacles and wires. The company says the modes help cut nuisance alerts.

All display systems are built at the company's facility in Vista. Engineers and production staff work together from the basic board to the finished product. Nighthawk is certified to AS9100 and ISO 9001, and it holds FAA Part 21 production and Part 145 repair station certificates. Customers can get product support, repair station service and help from dealers.

In 2026 the company named Scandinavian Avionics as a partner to expand its European support. It was also selected for the AEA New Product Introduction showcase.
