National EMS Pilots Association (NEMSPA)

The National EMS Pilots Association, or NEMSPA, is a professional group for air medical transport pilots in the United States. It is based in Collierville, Tennessee.

NEMSPA was formed in 1984. It says it is the only professional association in the USA that exists mainly to represent and develop EMS pilots. It acts as a voice for pilots in the air medical transport industry.

The group sets out clear aims. It wants the industry to prosper safely and to improve the delivery of pre-hospital health care. Safety is its first priority. It speaks up on issues that matter to EMS pilots. It also offers programs and services for pilot education, with the goal of safe, high-quality air medical service for local communities.

To reach these aims, NEMSPA takes part in meetings, seminars and summits. It works with other organizations and with government bodies. It supports relevant industry programs and initiatives. It also publishes and contributes to journals, videos, position papers and other material. Members can read the Air Medical Journal, which carries peer-reviewed clinical and operational articles, industry news and safety topics. A subscription comes with most levels of membership. The association also sends articles to the journal and invites members to submit their own.

NEMSPA runs a news blog, a newsletter and a resources page with podcasts it has joined. It keeps a weather page for pilots and a members directory. Pilots can join online.

The association is run by a board of directors made up of working air medical pilots. Active members can apply to join the board, and applications are taken each year from December to January.
