AMS Heli Design

AMS Heli Design is a company based at North Texas Regional Airport in Denison, Texas. It designs, certifies and sells lightweight interiors for helicopters. Its main focus is emergency medical services (EMS), VIP, utility and search and rescue configurations. The company started in 2015, when it entered the EMS interior market. It certified what it calls the lightest EMS interior for the Leonardo AW119 and AW109E, with a swiveling stretcher and composite materials.

AMS offers several interior products. For the Leonardo AW109 family (109SP, Trekker and S), its Advanced Life Support System interior is lightweight and modular. It uses composite materials and an articulating stretcher. The AMS STC is available worldwide. The AW119 and AW109E VIP interior is a new design with new cushions and liners. It can also retrofit helicopters that were previously set up for EMS or utility use.

The AW109E and AW119 EMS interior is the company's lightweight kit for those helicopters. The company says it saves about 103 pounds. It has flown since 2005 on AW119 EMS and search and rescue fleets, with more than 20,000 flying hours. The AW119 quick change interior moves from six utility seats to up to four seats and an articulating stretcher in less than 10 minutes. AMS also offers EMS interiors for the Airbus H145 D2 and D3 and the Airbus BK117 C2.

AMS designs and certifies custom medical mounts for equipment such as defibrillators, ventilators, suction pumps and infusion pumps. The mounts are approved on the AW109, AW119, AW139, AW169, H135 and H145, and can be placed on the ceiling, a medical rack, an equipment rack or the floor. Its neonatal transport deck is made of carbon fiber. It weighs less than 26 pounds and holds up to 300 pounds of medical equipment. It carries EASA and FAA STC certifications.

Its work covers concept study, design engineering, stress analysis, static testing, documentation and certification. AMS also buys, retrofits and sells pre-owned helicopters. It can handle the purchase inspection, legal work, ferry flights and registration. Its seat retrofit, made in cooperation with Autoflug GmbH, uses ultra lightweight seats that the company says cut more than 40 percent of seat weight. Qualified buyers can also finance an EMS interior through partner equipment financing firms.

AMS is an STC holder and a Production Approval Holder. The company serves the EMS industry first. It also works with owners and buyers of helicopters that need a new interior. AMS has been in business since 2015, and its head office is at North Texas Regional Airport in Denison, Texas.
