Mercy Medical Angels

Mercy Medical Angels is a charity that arranges transport for patients who travel for medical care. It helps patients with volunteer pilot flights, commercial airfare, ground transport and gas cards. The charity serves patients across the United States.

Air transport is flown by volunteer pilots in the Mid-Atlantic region, according to the site. Outside that area, the charity arranges commercial airline tickets, ground transport and gas cards. The site says the charity works with patients who need to travel far for cancer care, surgery and other treatment.

Veterans can ask for help through a program called Angel Wings for Veterans. The site lists stories from patients and veterans who received travel help. Donors can see examples of how small gifts paid for gas, tickets and flights.

Clinical staff can send a referral through a secure process. The site says the charity then finds a suitable travel option and coordinates the trip. There is also a guide for patients, an FAQ page and a page with the eligibility guidelines.

The site says the charity began with a single flight and has grown into a national network. It says it has served for over 54 years, has flown over 24 million miles and has helped over 500,000 journeys to care. The site reports 34,667 lives supported.

The site has a page for pilots that covers why to fly with the charity, mission types and safety, and a pilot hall of fame. Donors can give monthly, fund a flight, or start a fundraiser. The site lists a 2027 gala and a Flight Night event.

The site lists the phone number 757-318-9174. Patients can start a travel request through the request travel page, and the site describes the steps in order.
