Mercury Products

Mercury Products makes the Airchair, an onboard wheelchair for use inside aircraft cabins. The site says the product is made in the United Kingdom. The Airchair is sold only to airlines. The site says it is not available to members of the public.

The Airchair weighs 6 kg, or 13 lb. The Airchair II weighs 6.8 kg, or 15 lb. Both models can carry up to 250 kg, or 550 lb. They come in widths of 14 inches or 15 inches. The site says the design focuses on simplicity and strength.

The site says the Airchair is the only aisle chair tested to withstand a 250 kg suddenly applied load. The Airchair II meets the US DoT rule 14 CFR Part 382.65. The company says this lets airlines meet current US passenger rules.

Both models have fold out side restraints and foot supports for extra comfort. The frame has antimicrobial paint to help prevent the spread of infection. The back rest can retract to help with transfer. Both models fold so they fit in an overhead locker or a dog box.

The site says the chair helps airlines move passengers who need special assistance. It says the chair needs little training and is easy to deploy and stow. The site quotes one airline that has the chair fitted on all of its aircraft, long haul and short haul.

The site has a DoT compliance test tool. This tool helps an airline check whether its current solution meets the rule. The site also has a page on how to use the chair and a video. It has a quote request form for airlines.

Contact is by phone at +44 1403 786639 during UK office hours, 9 am to 5 pm. The site also lists a sales email address. The site has a contact form that asks for the airline or company name and the reason for the request.
