Master Fluid Solutions develops and markets metalworking fluids under the TRIM and Master STAGES brands and describes itself as the Coolant Management Company. The business began 75 years ago as Master Chemical Corporation, incorporated by Clyde A. Sluhan with the mission of improving manufacturing productivity; after creating the first TRIM formulations, Clyde and Marian Sluhan moved to Toledo, Ohio, and built the company there. Today it is a global organisation with offices and manufacturing in the United States, Europe, China, India, Thailand and Vietnam, and it works with the worldwide metalworking community, including aerospace machining shops, on cutting and grinding fluids, straight oils, parts cleaners, tube expansion, forming and corrosion protection products.

• TRIM cutting and grinding fluids: MicroSol microemulsions such as MicroSol 585XT with numerous OEM approvals, soluble oils, neo-synthetic, semisynthetic and synthetic fluids, high-performance TRIM VHP neat oils and tapping fluids
• Master STAGES cleaners and metal protection products for spray, immersion and ultrasonic cleaning, corrosion inhibitors and maintenance
• Forming, prelube, expander and splitting fluids, and WEDOLiT industrial lubricants from the acquired German company
• XYBEX fluid recycling systems, launched in 1972, that extend fluid life and reduce waste
• Additives, titration kits and the CoolTools online coolant management platform

Services and industries

As a coolant management company, Master Fluid Solutions helps customers select, manage and recycle metalworking fluids, with a technical line, a metalworking fluids guide and glossary, a coolant make-up calculator, data sheets, case studies and white papers. Industry solutions cover aerospace, defence, automotive, bearings, compressors, energy, medical, naval, nuclear and general machining, and products are sold through a worldwide distributor network. The company has a second US plant in Huntsville, Texas, a major production hub in China and an Asia-Pacific R and D centre, and reports Great Place to Work recognition and a sustainability programme.
