Martin Aviation

Martin Aviation is an aircraft maintenance company at John Wayne Airport (KSNA) in Santa Ana, Orange County, California. Its history goes back to 1923, when Eddie Martin began flying passengers from a field on the Irvine Ranch; the company describes itself as the county's oldest fixed base aviation operation. It has been owned by General William Lyon's group since 1990, sold its FBO in 1996 and now concentrates on maintenance, interiors, avionics coordination, detailing, ramp parking and office rental. The Lyon Air Museum is on the same site.

The shop is an FAA Part 145 repair station, certificate M8VR406N, with Class 1, 3 and 4 ratings; the air agency certificate, operations specifications, insurance certificate and drug programme certificate can be downloaded from the website. It is a Pilatus PC-12 Authorized Satellite Service Center, a Piper approved service center and a Honeywell TFE731 and APU service center, and it does Pratt & Whitney JT15D and PT6 hot section inspections. Aircraft named are the Pilatus PC-12 and the Piper PA-46, PA-44, PA-34 and PA-28. Services include general maintenance and inspections, major repairs and alterations, STCs, pre-buy surveys, battery work on primary, secondary and emergency systems, interior repair and refurbishment, and maintenance management and tracking. The site lists awards from Pratt & Whitney, a Honeywell Star of Excellence and Pilatus Satellite Service Center of the Year, without dates.

Hours and AOG

The front desk is open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. A 24/7 AOG line is published at (714) 876-5655. Ramp parking is offered to turboprop and jet aircraft on a monthly or annual basis. Pilots taxi to the facility by turning right off runway 20R or left off runway 2L.
