About Savvy Aviation

Savvy Aviation, Inc. is a maintenance management and engine data analysis company for general aviation aircraft owners. It is not a maintenance shop: its team of A&P/IA mechanics and data analysts advises owners, works with the owner's own shop and manages the maintenance process on the owner's behalf. The company was founded in 2008 by Mike Busch, an A&P/IA named Aviation Maintenance Technician of the Year by the FAA in 2008 and author of the monthly Savvy Maintenance column in AOPA Pilot. Its approach is described on the site as data driven, on condition and reliability centred: more maintenance is not always better maintenance.

In October 2026 the site reported 17 years in business, 6,474 clients and more than 10.5 million flights uploaded to its platform, and said it works with hundreds of shops in the United States and other countries, including aircraft based in the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, Israel, South Africa, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico and Canada.

Plans

  • SavvyBasics (US$99 a year): engine monitor data graphing, unlimited uploads of engine data and borescope images, 24/7 breakdown assistance away from home and FEVA failing exhaust valve analytics reports
  • SavvyAnalysis: engine monitor data reviewed by analysts, with written findings and recommendations, report cards and trend reports
  • SavvyQA: consulting plan with second opinions on maintenance decisions, troubleshooting, vetted shops, invoice and work order audits and parts sourcing
  • SavvyMx: full-service maintenance management with a dedicated A&P/IA account manager who deals with the shop, requires written estimates, authorises or declines work and manages prebuy examinations

Savvy also offers buyer assistance and Savvy-managed prebuys, and manages upgrade and insurance repair projects for a supplemental fee.

Cirrus owners

Savvy has a dedicated Cirrus page. It says its Cirrus maintenance experts include former directors of maintenance at Cirrus service centres, and that its analysts found half of the maintenance tasks Cirrus owners pay for do not improve airworthiness. SavvyMx for a Cirrus was priced at US$899 a year in October 2026, covering the dedicated account manager, engine data analysis, 24/7 breakdown assistance, logbook review and prebuy management; the page notes the plan also applies to aircraft under warranty or on the Cirrus CMX programme. Prices change; check the site.
