Mainstream Waterjet
Abrasive waterjet cutting and CNC machining based in Loveland, United States
About Mainstream Waterjet
Mainstream Waterjet is a precision manufacturer in Loveland, Ohio. It cuts parts with abrasive waterjets and makes them with CNC machining and Swiss turning.
The company reports more than 35 years of experience. It says it is the largest abrasive waterjet cutting supplier in the Midwest and serves customers across North America. It handles one-off prototypes and high-volume production runs. Its customers come from aerospace, defense, automotive, medical, power generation, construction, amusement rides and flooring.
Its 5-axis abrasive waterjet can cut material up to 24 inches thick and hold tolerances as close as plus or minus 0.001 inch. The work envelope is 240 by 120 inches. Waterjet cutting avoids heat affected zones, recast layers, work hardening and thermal stress. That makes it a good fit for specialty metals, armor plate and honeycomb. The machine can cut weld prep bevels, forged parts, tubing, piping and formed parts such as tank heads, which removes costly extra steps.
CNC machining is often paired with waterjet cutting. The shop first cuts parts to near net shape, which shortens machining time and lowers cost. Doing both in-house also means fewer hand-offs and fewer vendors for the customer.
The CNC Swiss lathes use live tooling and 12 foot bar feeders. They make precise parts from nickel, titanium, cobalt, aluminum, brass and stainless steel, in low and high volumes. The shop works with a wide range of materials, including Waspalloy, carbon and alloy steels, copper, plastics, carbon fiber, rubber, glass, marble, tile and stone.
Mainstream is AS9100D and ISO 9001:2015 certified, ITAR registered and DDTC registered. One customer says the company has been a partner for 15 years. Another says it added CNC turning equipment in under two months to take on extra work.
