Lin Engineering - Motor Specialists in Motion

Lin Engineering designs and makes precision motors and motion control parts. Its range includes stepper motors, brushless DC motors, micro DC motors, frameless torque motors, drive wheels for AGV and AMR vehicles, and gearboxes. Aviation is one of several markets, and the site has a section on aerospace. The company is based in Morgan Hill, California.

The site says motors can be made to fit each application. Prototypes are turned around in two weeks. Orders can range from a small batch to millions of motors, and the company says it ships millions of motors a year. Value add items include drivers and controllers, encoders, motor accessories and wire harnesses.

Lin Engineering has eight facilities with 1.5 million square feet of manufacturing space, including sites in Europe and Asia. It makes many sub-components in house, which it says helps supply stability. Support, engineering and assembly in the United States come from the Northern California site.

The company lists these approvals and standards: ISO 9001, AS9100D, TS16949, CE, REACH, Conflict Minerals and RoHS. A page about aerospace says the AS9100D certificate reflects its process control, traceability and risk management.

New products include Zero-Tech motion control items, frameless torque motors in the FlexCore, PowerCore and XtremeCore series, and vacuum rated DC motors. The site also offers a tool called MotorLab for sizing and choosing motors, and an online linear actuator configurator. It has a contact form and a careers page.
