Kennon Products

Kennon Products is an employee-owned manufacturer of protective covers at 1100 Hi-Tech Drive, Sheridan, Wyoming. It began in 1984 when Ron Kensey and pilot Paul Kennon Chaney started making aircraft sun shields from a garage in Temple City, California, after seeing a reflective insulation material used in construction. Ron Kensey bought out his partner and moved the company to Sheridan in 1989, and sewn covers were added in 1993. Today Kennon makes sun shields, cowl plugs, engine, intake and exhaust covers and canopy covers for general aviation, commercial and military aircraft, covers for UAVs and weapon systems, the Kennon Door (an anti-ligature door for behavioral health bedrooms) and custom bar covers. The company is ISO 9001:2015 certified and has in-house engineering, design, prototyping and production, with a team of material scientists and chemical, industrial and mechanical engineers. Becky Cooper, P.E., has been CEO since 2023.

General aviation products

• Sun shields made to fit in the window moulding of each aircraft type, sold by aircraft make through the company's online store
• Custom-fit cowl plugs to keep birds, insects and debris out of engine inlets
• Aircraft, engine, wing and tail covers; Kennon also supplied preheaters to the Iditarod Air Force

Military and other products

After a 1995 request from Wright Patterson Air Force Base for F-15 sun shields, Kennon went on to make covers for most US military aircraft platforms, including UH-60 Blackhawk upturned exhaust covers for Sikorsky and F-35 solar shields for Lockheed, and its PMAC portable magnetic aircraft covers. A large-format fabric printer adds squadron insignia to covers. The healthcare line is the Kennon Door, first delivered in 2008 and redesigned in 2021.

Cirrus products

The general aviation page of the main site lists Cirrus among the aircraft makes for which Kennon sells sun shields and cowl plugs, and shows a photo of Cirrus SR22 cowl plugs. The product collections themselves sit on a separate online store (shop.kennonproducts.com), which displayed a 'store currently unavailable' message when checked in October 2026, so current models and prices could not be read; contact the company directly.
