Hufschmied Zerspanungssysteme GmbH has over 30 years of experience in the development and production of process-optimising machining tools. The German company, with a production site in Winterlingen, describes itself as a manufacturer of material-related tools and a move from tool manufacturer to process innovator. It has its own technology and engineering centre where tools are developed and customers are advised.

Tools and materials

• T-REX tools for machining carbon-fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP) structural components for the automotive and aviation industries, combining milling cutter geometry with delamination-free machining; one geometry for duroplastic resins and another for thermoplastic matrix systems
• Shadowdrill, a drill with a special cut for optimised chip removal and burr-free machining at both entry and exit
• Wolverine HC403BD and HC403BDSR, high-volume roughing cutters designed for aluminium, with extreme feeds possible
• Tools for acrylic glass (plexiglass) and other plastics, and for composites
• A product finder covering around 8,000 tools

Customers and use

Customer comments on the site cite higher feed rates, quieter machining, longer tool life and better surface quality. One reports improved machining of reinforced CFRP floor beams for the Airbus A350, where avoiding delamination was essential, and another praises tool precision in fully automated Industry 4.0 processes.
