About Hancom InSpace

Hancom InSpace, also called InSpace Co., Ltd., is a South Korean aerospace technology company in Daejeon. It builds satellite ground station systems, drone operation platforms and image analysis software. It describes its offer as an image all-in-one service that covers collecting, managing, analysing and selling video and image data.

The company works in three business areas. These are space, aviation and ground surveillance. In space, it builds specialised systems using know-how from the KOMPSAT and GEO-KOMPSAT ground stations. It also runs an intelligence service that quickly processes SAR, optical and infrared satellite images. Its commercial satellite product is called Sejong.

Its drone line includes drones, a drone station and DroneSAT. The company provides unmanned drone operation platforms and long-range surveillance camera services. It is widening its work to cover many kinds of monitoring and analysis with drones. Other products include InView, an AI-based surveillance solution, an AI Profiler, the InStation platform, a wearable robot and a positioning, navigation and timing line that covers eLoran and NTRIP.

The image analysis range covers four software tools. InExplorer catalogues images, terrain, vector data, video and maps. InViewer processes and shows satellite and aerial images. InSight is an AI analysis tool for electro-optical, infrared and SAR images, with report writing and coordinate extraction. InMotionImage finds and identifies objects in video and live streams using plug-in AI models.

These tools support many uses. They include change detection for roads and buildings, illegal structure detection, pine tree wilt disease detection, rice paddy classification and crop yield prediction. They also cover fire monitoring with smoke and heat alerts, 3D mapping and area measurement, and oil spill and ship detection from SAR images. The company also lists target detection from drone images, such as vehicles and excavators, and from satellite images, such as aircraft and warships.

Named partners include Spire, Infiniti Electro-Optics, BAE Systems, Aeroman, IBM, Taitus Software, Kongsberg and Loft Orbital. The company also runs an academy.
