Guinault
Aircraft ground power and air conditioning units since 1949
About Guinault
Guinault is a French manufacturer of aircraft ground power and air conditioning equipment, founded by Maurice Guinault in 1949. The company develops, manufactures and markets APU OFF solutions that power and air-condition aircraft on the ground without running their engines or auxiliary power unit, reducing operating costs and emissions. Its equipment is designed and built at a 40,000 square metre industrial site near Orleans, and the company employs more than 400 people and exports to more than 90 countries through a network of international partners.
Products
- Ground power units (GPU), including 400 Hz generators and multi-voltage units based on multi-coil alternators
- Static 400 Hz frequency converters, first designed and produced in 2001
- Air conditioning units (ACU), including an ultra-compact electronically controlled unit developed in 2010 for military applications and a full civil range
- COMBO ACU/GPU units combining generator and air conditioner
- Variable speed, electronically controlled pneumatic air start units (ASU), designed in 2000
- Connected equipment with monitoring for airports and ground handlers
History
Early Guinault generators supplied 28 volt direct current to aircraft. In the early 1970s the company built the first 400 Hz ground power unit made in France, for the Boeing 707, and in the early 1990s the first multi-voltage GPU. Customers over the years have included Dassault for the Mirage, Aerospatiale and Sud Aviation. Guinault has supplied the European aeronautics industry for more than 60 years, has grown organically and been profitable without interruption since 2003, with turnover of 51 million euros in 2017, and remains a family group. Its after-sales service supports customers on five continents.
