About Flight Outfitters

Flight Outfitters is a pilot gear brand based in Cincinnati, Ohio that designs flight bags, kneeboards, apparel and cockpit accessories for general aviation pilots. The company was started by Mark Glassmeyer, who returned to flying after a 25-year break, earned his private pilot certificate and could not find a flight bag built for the way modern pilots fly. Working with his flight instructor he designed the Lift Bag, launched in 2014, which became the first product of the brand. In 2026 Kelly Keller, a third generation pilot and aircraft owner whom Mark met at the Valdez STOL competition in Alaska in 2018, joined the company as a business partner.

Products

  • Flight bags: the Bush Pilot Flight Bag, Lift 2.0 Flight Bag and Bush Pilot Duffel Bag are listed as best sellers, with limited editions such as a pink Lift 2.0 sold through other pilot shops.
  • Kneeboards and tablet kneeboards for the cockpit.
  • Apparel, including the Airfoil Jacket, a packable jacket under 2 lb with a fleece lined collar, water repellent outer and zippered pockets.
  • Cockpit accessories and smaller items grouped on the site as the Hangar.

Orders of US$99.95 or more ship without charge in the continental United States. The company says customer support emails go to the people running the company, and gear carries a limited warranty handled by email. A blog called Adventures carries articles by the president under the brand's Pilot Your Own Adventure theme.

Flight Outfitters products are also stocked by pilot supply retailers in the United States and abroad.

Design approach

The company says each product starts from a pilot's need in the cockpit: pockets sized for headsets, tablets, charts and fuel testers, materials chosen to stand up to ramps and hangars, and kneeboards that hold a tablet or paper at a usable angle. Mark flies a Cessna 172 and a Citabria, and the brand's events and blog lean towards backcountry and STOL flying, which is where the Bush Pilot line takes its name.
