Fives

Fives is a French international industrial engineering group with a heritage of more than 200 years that designs and supplies machines, process equipment and production lines for industry, including aerospace, defence, special machining, steel, aluminium, cement and minerals, energy, automotive, logistics and glass. From the first railway lines and the lifts of the Eiffel Tower to factory 4.0, the group has reinvented industrial processes through successive industrial revolutions, and today its 8,500 employees in 25 countries work under the signature Faire aimer l'industrie, led by chairman and chief executive Frédéric Sanchez.

Aerospace and composites

• End-to-end composite manufacturing solutions from lamination to demoulding: automated tape laying, automated fibre placement, hybrid and customised lamination machines for aerospace and space launch structures
• Vacuum drape forming, mechanical shear forming and sequential ply forming, with inspection and curing solutions designed for minimal waste and maximum quality
• Customised automation developed from this specialism, applied in fields from aerospace to biomedical engineering

• Process technologies for aluminium, steel and glass, cement, minerals and sugar, combustion, cryogenics and induction, plus transversal activities in air pollution control, AI and data processing, electrical and automation cabinets, maintenance and piping
• AddUp, a Fives subsidiary, offering complete industrial metal 3D printing solutions from machine supply to part production advice
• Innovation programmes on hydrogen, decarbonisation, e-mobility, urban logistics, digitalisation and cybersecurity, including the C4Capture consortium with Aluminium Dunkerque, Trimet and Rio Tinto on CO2 capture for aluminium smelters, and a partnership with NOC Energy on cement decarbonisation

Group

Fives supports installations across their entire lifecycle with services, integrates digital solutions, predictive maintenance, robotics and energy efficiency into its machines, and positions itself as a pioneer of decarbonisation and digitalisation with a published climate strategy. At the end of 2018 it adopted a more agile governance as a société par actions simplifiée with a supervisory committee of external members and divisional presidents for aluminium, steel and glass, cement, minerals, sugar and combustion.
