About FEMIA
FEMIA is the Mexican Federation of the Aerospace Industry, a non-profit association based in Mexico. It was established in 2007. It groups and represents the main companies of Mexico's aerospace industry, and it describes itself as the national reference body for the sector.
FEMIA has more than 100 aerospace companies as members. They work in manufacturing, maintenance, engineering and design. The federation says its members account for 80 percent of the annual exports of the aerospace industry in Mexico. Companies can apply for membership online.
The federation has collaboration agreements with national and international aerospace and industrial bodies. These agreements aim to help the sector grow worldwide. FEMIA has also run projects with the Federal Government and international organisations. The projects help small, medium and large companies with internationalisation and promotion, certifications and other needs.
FEMIA wrote the first version of the National Strategic Program of the Aerospace Industry. It now runs the National Supplier Development Program for the sector. Its work groups, called commissions, cover space, customs and foreign trade, training, MRO and maintenance services, promotion and supply.
Its mission is to represent the whole Mexican aerospace sector and to be an international reference as a business association. It aims to answer the sector's strategic challenges together and to get the best results for all members. Its vision is to promote and strengthen the sector, support industrial and technology growth, and create highly skilled jobs.
FEMIA holds a free weekly webinar where experts discuss topics that matter to the industry. It runs a seminar called Se Proveedor Aeroespacial for companies that want to become aerospace suppliers. It also publishes a newsletter every two months. The newsletter covers its own activities, its members and the wider industry, and companies can advertise in it. The federation also keeps the National Aerospace Registry.
