About f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS
f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS GmbH is a German company that develops and builds avionics for communication, navigation and display. Its main market is general aviation.
The company has four main product lines. The ATR833 series are full-featured, compact VHF aircraft radios. A second line covers ground radios and handheld radios. These can be used on board and on the ground, and they are approved for air traffic control tasks. The third line is Mode S transponders. The fourth is traffic display systems. These combine Mode A/C, Mode S, ADS-B and FLARM in a single device for airspace awareness in general aviation.
Besides its own products, the company builds custom subsystems for other firms. It names Airbus Defence and Space, Hensoldt, Lufthansa Technik, Elbit, L3Harris and Thales Alenia Space as system companies it works for. It also works for public customers. Its project work includes mission systems built on its radios, transponders and display systems. It also covers avionics subsystems for communication, navigation, flight management and electronic ground infrastructure.
The company develops subsystems for satellite navigation systems used around the world. These are matched to the ground infrastructure of each system. Examples include EGNOS in Europe and KASS in South Korea. One project made EGNOS subsystems for Thales Alenia Space France. Another used its Mode S systems in a navigation system for parachutists for Airbus Defence and Space. Its xBNK product helps protect wind turbines and cuts light emissions.
f.u.n.k.e. AVIONICS also offers development services for avionics solutions and for systems that control aircraft. It is working on a new product family for drones. The aim is to give unmanned air systems radio technology for safe use in shared airspace. A drone unit called DCG890 is part of this range.
Customers are served by a service area with a price list, manuals, approvals, service bulletins and lists of dealers and manufacturers. The company also carries out repairs and upgrades. In May 2026 it was named a Business Innovator by the diind German Innovation Institute. It showed new products at the AERO 2026 fair in Friedrichshafen and supports the new ADS-L standard. Its references cover avionics, wind power, defence and aerospace.
