ET Space Power

ET SPACE POWER, INC. is a Taiwanese solar energy technology company that develops and commercialises multi-junction solar cells for space and concentrated photovoltaic (CPV) applications. Space solar cells

The company's space multi-junction solar cells are designed for the AM0 environment beyond the atmosphere and are intended for satellites, space stations and deep-space probes, where they must operate in vacuum, under extreme temperature swings and radiation. Products listed include:

• TCSP30 triple-junction solar cell with a GaInP/GaAs/Ge structure and efficiency of about 30 percent, with two front-side interconnector areas of 1 by 7 mm and a minimum operating current of 470 mA, with beginning-of-life and post-radiation (1E15 electrons per square centimetre) data for open-circuit voltage, short-circuit current and maximum power point temperature coefficients
• TCSP29A triple-junction solar cell assembly with a nominal efficiency of 29 percent, built on the same cell with an optimised grid design, a bypass diode, silver-coated interconnectors and cover glass, and a total assembly thickness of 300 micrometres plus or minus 25

Applications named on the site are satellite power that extends operational life, reliable energy for deep-space exploration far from Earth, and continuous power for space stations.

Concentrated photovoltaics

ET SPACE POWER also supplies high-efficiency multi-junction cell chips for CPV systems, in which lenses or mirrors focus sunlight onto a small cell area to raise conversion efficiency for terrestrial power generation.
