EREA
Association of Europe's national aeronautics research establishments
About EREA
EREA, the Association of European Research Establishments in Aeronautics, is a non-profit organisation whose members are Europe's national research centres in the field of aeronautics and air transport, represented in 14 European countries. It was founded in 1994 to meet the European challenges that national research establishments began to face as the aviation industry integrated, air transport consolidated into multinational carriers and regulation became a European responsibility, and it grew out of the earlier Union of European Research Establishments and the AEREA association. EREA's vision is to be the trusted leader in Europe on aviation applied research through expertise and innovation, by enhancing synergies among its members.
Mission
- Intensify cooperation among members in civil, military and space-related aeronautics research
- Facilitate integrated management of joint activities, contributing to Europe's role as a global player in aeronautics
- Improve and intensify cooperation with third parties in aeronautics, including closer European cooperation in security and defence
- Pool capabilities across members, including certification and support to certification, through the Technology and Research Infrastructures Group (TRIG) and the Defence Research Group (DRG), and the EREA Future Sky joint research initiative
