ERC System

ERC System is a German developer of hybrid-electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft for defence logistics, medical transport and other critical missions. Founded in Germany with IABG, the defence and aerospace technical services provider, as founding investor and strategic anchor, and with the air rescue operator DRF Luftrettung as operational partner, ERC has built two full-scale demonstrators, flown more than 1,000 flight hours and set two EU records. Its aircraft are designed and produced in Germany and are quoted as having 60 percent lower operating cost than a helicopter.

Aircraft

• Victor U250: an uncrewed hybrid-electric logistics platform with 250 kg payload, 300 km mission radius and air-drop without landing, in civil and military variants, presented at ILA Berlin 2026 and now entering series production
• Victor U250-M: the military variant
• Charlie C700: a crewed heavy eVTOL on the EASA certification path for HEMS, passenger and emergency response missions, built on the unmanned programme

Programme history

Engineering began in 2021 and ground testing of Echo, the first full-scale, full-mass demonstrator, started in 2022. Echo first flew in 2023 at 2,730 kg, one of the heaviest full-mass eVTOL demonstrators flown in continental Europe at the time. Romeo, revealed in 2024 for inter-hospital patient transport, became in 2025 the largest and heaviest electric VTOL aircraft to take off in the EU at 2,735 kg. Flight testing takes place at Erding, where the German state secretary Sebastian Hartmann visited to discuss the capability gap that unmanned VTOL can close in military logistics. Partners and supporters listed include Rega, OAMTC air rescue, RAV Fryslan and the Gesundheitsregionplus Unterallgau-Memmingen.

ERC System is listed as a speaker at the EASA Air Mobility Implementation Forum 2026 and as an exhibitor at XPONENTIAL Europe 2027 and the Paris Air Show 2027.
