Dubai South, MBR Aerospace Hub

Dubai South, MBR Aerospace Hub, also called the Mohammed Bin Rashid Aerospace Hub, is a free zone for aerospace and aviation companies in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Dubai South develops it next to Al Maktoum International Airport. It lies between Dubai International Airport and Abu Dhabi International Airport. The hub covers more than 8.5 square kilometres.

The hub is a base for airlines, private jet companies, MROs and related industries. It supports commercial aircraft and private jets and the firms that serve them, from heavy maintenance centres to VIP travel. It offers airside and landside space. Large multinational firms and small and medium companies can both set up close to airlines and private jets in the region.

The hub has four business areas. These are business aviation, MRO, education and training, and offices and retail. It has special infrastructure for business aviation, maintenance and education. This includes training academies and technical campuses.

Connections are a key selling point. The hub has air, sea and road access. It links to the Emirates Sky Cargo terminal, the dnata cargo terminal and the Jebel Ali seaport. Dubai South itself is a 145 square kilometre area with seven districts. Each district is built for a different industry.

Free zone status brings benefits for investors. Most parts of the hub are exempt from VAT. All areas allow 100 percent foreign ownership.

The hub states its mission as creating value for the aerospace and business aviation industries. It does this by building the physical and support systems that companies need. It also backs an education base that trains skilled workers, engineers, professionals and pilots. Its stated vision is to be a global hub for aviation and aerospace innovation.
