About Dallas Fort Worth International Airport

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, known as DFW, is a commercial airport serving the Dallas and Fort Worth area in the United States. It handles passenger flights and also works with cargo, corporate aviation and business partners. The airport has its own public safety department and a noise office that talks with nearby communities.

Travelers can check flight information and security wait times before they leave home. Parking comes in several types: terminal, express, remote and valet lots, plus cell phone lots for drivers who wait for arriving passengers. Other ways to reach the airport include a shuttle service, rental cars, ground transportation and public transit. A map and directions help visitors find their way.

Inside the terminals, DFW offers shops, restaurants and other services. There are traveler lounges, art displays, family friendly spaces, Wi-Fi and help for people traveling with pets. Passengers can also find support with customs clearance, connections and transfers, passenger assistance, and lost and found. Hotels, airlines and corporate aviation are part of the airport's trip planning information.

DFW also works with businesses. It offers business opportunities in concessions, advertising, commercial development, cargo, procurement and ground transportation operations. It shares traffic statistics, a strategic plan and a project tracker. It runs a safety management system for airside work, and it reports on sustainability and stormwater management. The airport also posts career openings.

The DFW Noise Compatibility Office acts as the link between neighboring communities, residents, airlines, the FAA, universities and NASA. Permanent noise monitors sit in nine cities and three counties. Their data is matched with FAA radar data to show which noise comes from arriving and departing aircraft. The airport also keeps flight track records that show aircraft type and flight volumes over any point in the Dallas Fort Worth area. A noise center hosts community forums.

Several projects have just finished or are under way. In October 2026 DFW finished its third end-around taxiway. It lets arriving aircraft go around active runways instead of waiting to cross them. The airport says this cuts taxi time by an average of four minutes per flight. A Terminal A pier expansion with American Airlines adds 140,000 square feet, and the first four of ten planned gates have opened. A 90,000 square foot central receiving and distribution center, built with Bradford Airport Logistics, handles deliveries to restaurants, retailers and lounges across all terminals.
