CTT Systems AB is a Swedish company that makes humidity control systems for aircraft. Its two product lines are the Humidifier Onboard and an anti-condensation system. Its motto is optimizing humidity in aircraft.

The company says cabin air is more dehydrating than any place on Earth. On long flights this upsets the body's moisture balance. It can cause tiredness from dry air, weaken the immune system and dull taste. The Humidifier Onboard raises the humidity to a more ground-like level for pilots, crew and passengers.

On the flight deck, the humidifier is described as a de facto standard on newbuilt widebodies used for long-haul flights. CTT says close to 90 percent of Boeing 787 flight decks choose it. It says the system is also gaining ground on the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 777X.

Crew rest compartments are another use. Dry air makes it harder to relax and sleep. CTT says the humidifier has helped crew sleep since 2007, starting with the first Airbus A380. It is available for line-fit on the A380, the Boeing 787, the Airbus A350 and the Boeing 777X.

The humidifier is also made for first and business class cabins and for VIP aircraft and large-cabin business jets. CTT says almost every long-haul VIP aircraft today has an active humidification system. The company also sells original humidifier pad assemblies, which are consumable parts.

The anti-condensation system tackles a different problem. Moisture builds up on the aircraft fuselage and adds weight. This raises fuel use and greenhouse gas emissions. CTT says standard passive measures are not enough for today's flights, which have more seats, higher loads, quicker turnarounds and longer routes. It calls its system a green technology that cuts fuel burn and carbon footprint.
