About Colare

Colare runs simulation based technical assessments for hiring hardtech engineers. These cover mechanical, firmware, robotic, embedded and other engineering roles. The company says it handles the process from scenario design to candidate ranking, so engineering teams spend less time on technical hiring.

The assessments use problems based on real work in each discipline. Each assessment is drawn from what the client's team builds and how the role contributes to it. The assessment is shaped and approved by the client's team, and the result is sent back to that team as a signal.

Assessment areas include aerospace, propulsion, mechanical, robotics, mechatronics, manufacturing, structural, electrical, thermal and firmware. Each role has its own assessment, with questions on topics such as motor torque, truss loads, heat sinks, nozzles and SPI links.

Screening runs at volume. Each assessment reflects the skills and priorities of the position, and applicants are reviewed blind. The rubric and cut score match the client's bar, whether that means capability or the top 1%.

Case studies include an aerospace and defense manufacturer that screens hundreds of first principles engineers per factory on real scenarios, with ranked, per skill results and integrity scores. Another is a launch and space systems company that scaled browser based assessments by seniority, so recruiters make the first technical call inside their own applicant tracking system.

Colare has been featured in SpaceNews, Forbes, Business Insider, Payload and Fortune. Its customers include an energy hardware startup, a space tech company and an advanced manufacturing company.
