About Cognitec
Cognitec develops face recognition software for government and enterprise customers around the world. The company is based in Dresden, Germany, and has worked in this field since 2002. It describes its focus on face recognition as lasting nearly two decades. It reports hundreds of installations worldwide.
Its products run on the FaceVACS technology. They are built to be easy to use, scalable and customisable. An open system architecture makes them easy to link with other systems, and the company adds professional support. Cognitec says independent evaluation tests have shown strong performance from the FaceVACS software.
FaceVACS-DBScan ID compares facial images from many sources against large image databases. FaceVACS-DBScan LE helps law enforcement agents find people in images and recorded video. FaceVACS-Entry quickly captures a biometric photo and checks a person's identity. FaceVACS-VideoScan finds persons of interest in real time and uses anonymous facial analysis to create people analytics. A managed version, VideoScan ES, is sold by subscription with guaranteed performance criteria. FaceVACS Technology lets clients build their own face recognition and image analysis applications.
The portfolio also covers recorded video investigation, border control, ISO-compliant photo capturing and facial image quality assessment.
Cognitec groups its work into five application areas. These are ID management, law enforcement, physical security, border control and commercial or service-based uses. The company says its products serve government users and commercial users with demanding needs.
Cognitec has offices in Germany, the United States and Australia, and it recruits teams in all three countries. It also offers customer service for its clients. In one reported project, the company supplied biometric camera devices and related services to the Home Affairs department in Australia.
