Challenger Aviation Products

Challenger Aviation Products, Inc. is a small family owned manufacturer in Vandalia, Ohio, that makes re-cleanable air and oil filters for piston engine aircraft. The company was founded by Chuck Rocco in 2000; after his death in 2011 his daughters Heather and Susan Rocco took over and still run it, and the site describes the business as woman owned and family run. Its stated aim is to offer a reusable alternative to disposable paper air filters and spin on oil filters.

Products

• Re-cleanable induction air filters built on K&N filter media, sold as direct replacements for the OEM filter. The site says they are FAA-PMA approved and covered by an STC, so a one time Form 337 is needed at first installation; the filters can be cleaned up to 25 times or 2,500 hours and must be cleaned at least every calendar year or 100 hours, sooner in dusty conditions. The site also notes they are not subject to the airworthiness directive on paper filters.
• Re-cleanable oil filters with a medical grade stainless steel mesh rated at 22 microns, with the same part numbering as the disposable filters they replace plus a CP prefix and a -C suffix, safety wire holes all round and a spare gasket (CP-623) in every box
• Replacement gaskets, cleaning and recharge products, and installation and continued airworthiness instructions and an approved model list for each product line

Prices are listed in the online store; in October 2026 air filters were shown between about US$240 and US$410 depending on part number and small gaskets from about US$16 (challengeraviation.com/collections/all). The site also lists distributors, an STC request form and a warranty form.
