About Centre Spatial Universitaire de Grenoble
The Centre Spatial Universitaire de Grenoble, or CSUG, is a university space centre in the Grenoble area of France. Students, researchers and companies build nanosatellites there. It was created in 2015. Its aim is to make space open to everyone as part of the NewSpace movement.
CSUG brings together people from research, industry and training. All of them take part in building nanosatellites. The Université Grenoble Alpes and Grenoble INP oversee the centre, with support from the Fondation UGA. Its technical rooms, offices and ground station are in Saint-Martin-d'Hères.
Students from any field of study can join a real space project at CSUG. They work on a concrete project in a sector with a future. The centre offers internships and a certifying training course. It also lists work-study and job offers. In June 2026, a dozen high school students spent a week at the centre as part of COMETES. This project runs from 2025 to 2030 and covers skills and careers in space.
Projects at the centre include AMICal Sat, ThingSat, ATISE, QlevEr Sat, NANOBOB and NanoCarb, also called SCARBO. CSUG also runs NewSpace New City, SWING and stratospheric balloon work.
Researchers and labs can use CSUG to start a space project or to test a technology in space. The centre offers its know-how in nanosatellite missions.
Companies can support the centre's training work through patronage with the Fondation Université Grenoble Alpes. The centre says this serves the public interest: education, young people, their entry to work and teaching innovation. Companies can also sign a collaborative development contract. Patrons include Air Liquide, Requea, Teledyne e2v, AXA Research Fund, Nicomatic, Vulkam and Lynred. In October 2026, CSUG supported a CNES and business morning on space and energy. The event was co-organised with the Minalogic and Tenerrdis clusters.
