Calip Group

Calip Group is a French family-owned mechanical equipment manufacturer headquartered at 6 rue Rembrandt Bugatti in Moult, near Caen in Normandy, that brings together several industrial sites specialised in CNC machining, precision machining and the assembly of complex sub-assemblies for aerospace, defence, space, medical, robotics, nuclear and green mobility customers. Born in a mechanical workshop and built on know-how passed down through generations, the group draws on more than 50 years of experience and today runs around 150 CNC machines and some 20 three-dimensional and optical measuring machines across its sites, with about 400 employees.

Expertise

• High-precision CNC milling and turning of complex parts in all types of metals and alloys on 3, 4 and 5-axis machining centres and latest-generation lathes, from prototypes to series
• Machining of long aluminium extruded profiles for structural parts, covering die development, extrusion from 250 kg, surface treatment (anodising, Surtec, paint), precision machining and final assembly in 2000, 5000, 6000 and 7000 series alloys, with SPC-driven connected production lines
• Friction stir welding (FSW), a solid-state process without fusion or filler that gives leak-tight, high-strength aluminium assemblies while avoiding porosity, cracks and distortion
• Grinding, wire and sinker electro-erosion, foundry part rework, deburring under binocular or camera control and in-house industrial painting with surface preparation, masking, application and thickness control
• Tooling design through an in-house design office, multi-technology assembly and full supply chain management up to final integration

Sites and growth

• Sites in Normandy, where the two Norman plants merged at Moult, Centre-Val de Loire (Issoudun), two in Rhône-Alpes including Saint-Jean-de-Moirans, Pays de la Loire (industrial painting specialist MEFIC at Segré-en-Anjou-Bleu) and two plants in Romania
• Acquisitions of MGF Grimaldi, a precision mechanics company at Saint-Jean-de-Moirans, SPEMA, a high-precision mechanics company at Issoudun, and MEFIC, whose news now appears on the group site
• An internal training school, CALIP Compétences, to pass on machining skills

Recognition

On 7 October 2026, at the Thales Global Supplier Conference, chief executive Marc Sevestre received a Competitiveness award for Calip Group, one of six winners, recognising a partnership with Thales that began in 2007 and the work of teams in France and Romania together with Greek partner Vioral. The group states values of transparency, authenticity and rigour and describes its external growth strategy as bringing together complementary know-how to meet customer requirements.
