About Brazilian Aeronautical Commission in Washington
The Brazilian Aeronautical Commission in Washington, known as CABW, is the Washington, D.C. purchasing office of the Brazilian Air Force. It belongs to the Air Force Logistics Center. It buys aircraft parts and other supplies from suppliers in the United States.
Most of its purchases run through ERA-COMPRAER, an electronic bidding system. Suppliers can look at the list of items in the initial proposal phase and read the standard terms and conditions. They can also see shipping information, a list of Air Force project codes and the NATO Federal Supply Classification of material groups. A list of the most requested part numbers helps suppliers see what is in demand. Tutorials and webinars explain how the system works.
CABW also runs sealed bid processes that do not go through ERA-COMPRAER. It publishes announcements about its electronic auctions. These notices say that the commission will pick suppliers on the lowest total price. The office also handles purchases for related Air Force offices, such as the commission in Europe.
New suppliers can register online, and existing suppliers can update their registration. Suppliers can download their purchase orders from a separate portal. CABW also offers a form with business references for credit applications.
The Brazilian Air Force also uses CABW to sell equipment. In June 2026 the Air Force announced an auction of six P-3 aircraft engines in as-is, on-condition status. Buyers had to register with the auctioneer at least 48 hours before the sale.
CABW publishes records on income and expenses, expense execution and the full content of purchase process documents. It also lists its history, mission, vision and values, advanced offices and organisation chart. The site links to the Brazilian Ministry of Defense and the Brazilian Air Force Logistics Center.
