About Bauer

Bauer, Inc. designs and builds test systems and support equipment for aircraft components. It is based in Bristol, Connecticut. Its equipment is used in commercial and military aviation around the world.

Bauer started as an electrical contracting firm in the early 1900s. Pratt & Whitney asked the company to use its refrigeration and heating knowledge to build temperature simulation systems for engine component tests. More engine test needs followed, and Bauer moved fully into aircraft component test equipment. Its work later grew beyond engines to most other aircraft systems. The company reports over 6,000 completed projects and a history of more than 110 years.

Bauer runs 75,000 square feet of manufacturing and engineering space. Its equipment tests and supports engine and control systems, engine components, thermal and fluid systems, air management systems, electric and mechanical actuation, cargo loading, landing gear, auxiliary power units, water and waste systems and oxygen systems. It also makes tooling for component overhaul and repair.

The test equipment range covers fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics, electro-mechanical, engine oil and electrical systems. The fuel line alone includes test stands for main fuel controls, fuel pumps, fuel nozzles, boost pumps and flow transmitters. It also includes portable test carts and a PT6 fuel nozzle spray tester. Bauer works with each customer to match the equipment to the fleet it must cover.

A second product line serves wheel and brake shops. It includes bead breaking, tyre inflation, wheel assembly and disassembly, and brake testing. Support equipment includes engine assembly tooling, an engine harness tester, hydrostatic tube and hose test solutions, air and vacuum flow testers, an ultrasonic nozzle cleaner and preservation and flushing products.

Bauer also offers equipment support, training, spare parts, maintenance contracts, facility planning, capability expansion and design and engineering. In October 2025, it formed an alliance with Ascential Technologies for test and service solutions. Customers include OEMs, airlines, MRO shops and military organisations. Bauer holds ISO 9001:2015, AS9100D registration and FAA Part 145 repair station approval.
