Bartington Instruments

Bartington Instruments is a British maker of magnetic field sensors, founded in 1985. Its website says it designs and manufactures precision fluxgate magnetometers, gradiometers, magnetic susceptibility instruments, Helmholtz coil systems and associated data acquisition equipment, and that in 40 years it has built extensive experience in sensors with maximised sensitivity, minimised noise and wide bandwidth. Around 75 percent of its products are exported to customers in industries that include aerospace, land, sea and air defence, surveillance, security, space, physics and geophysics.

The site explains that magnetometers can measure a static background field as a reference or detect changes in the field, and lists applications such as navigation, geophysical surveying, weather forecasting, border and perimeter security, mineral exploration and scientific research. It says its sensors are used from the poles, ocean floors and volcanoes to cryogenic environments, and its news pages mention the Mag566 on the Lunar Vertex lander and rover.

Bartington has always had its own in-house manufacturing facility, which the company says lets it control quality and efficiency directly. It is an ISO 9001:2015 certified company with its own sales, marketing and research and development teams, and the sales team supports customers through product selection, purchase, training and support.
